The contractor handling the multi million FGN/UBEC/Model School 11 building at Owo in Owo local government area of Ondo State has promised to complete the project and deliver to the State Government before the end of the year.
The representative of the Contractor handling the project who also doubles as the project Resident Engineer, Raimi Fayilope gave the assurance during an on the spot assessment of level of work done by the Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan and his technical team.
Engineer Fayilope who agreed that works were initially slow said that there have been remarkable progress in the level of ground covered after the last visit three months ago by the Chairman and his team.
While reiterating the commitment of the contractor to delivered the smart school project on schedule, the Resident Engineer averred that with fabrication of the windows and doors completed, all that are left to be done are roofing of the buildings, splashing of the walls, fitting and fixing of the windows and the doors which would be done within six weeks.
However, the SUBEB Chairman, Rt.Hon Olabimtan commended the contractor for living up to expectations when compared to the situation on ground when the Board first visited the site three months ago. He said if the contractor keeps to his promise nothing can stop pupils from using the new school buildings in January, 2023.
The former Speaker Ondo State House Assembly who commended Ondo State for being a beneficiary of the smart school project which is being built in each state as well as Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja and one in each geopolitical zones of the country said the model school was conceived as a guide to other schools in the country.
The model school will have all the modern facilities like ICT, e – learning, Computers, internet and any other things that will make teaching and learning more attractive and amendable in today’s world adding that, the school is an incubator where future scientists and engineers would be baked.
While calling on the residents of Owo Local Government Area and the environ to take maximum advantage of the School by enrolling their children’s and wards in the school as soon as It opened said they should count themselves very lucky to have such a first class learning facility in their area.
Olabimtan who commended the Federal Government and UBEC for midwifing the idea of smart school said the State, the people of Owo and its catchment areas are very grateful to them, promising that the Board will take proper care of the facilities in order to achieve its essence
