Pundit and former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has suggested that the rumoured £1million fine being proposed for Portuguese forward, Cristiano Ronaldo following his interview with ace presenter, Piers Morgan will not make any impact.

Ferdinand made the statement while recently speaking on Vibe with FIVE, where he claimed the striker was too rich to be bothered with the punitive measure.

Ronaldo in a recent explosive interview published on Sunday evening, criticised Manchester United and their manager, Erik ten Hag for various reasons.

The 37-year-old Portuguese said he has no respect for the Dutch manager and slammed the club’s hierarchy over poor management of the Old Trafford outfit.

It later was reported on Monday, November 14, that Ronaldo will be fined two weeks’ wages, which amounts to around £1million.

Reacting to the report, Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United legend, feels such punishment will barely register given Ronaldo’s wealth.

He said, “I’ve just seen by the way that they reckon Ronaldo has been fined £1million, that’s what they’re saying. But that’s two weeks’ wages,”

“What he’s doing right, he’s actually picking up one of his sofa pillows and just gonna go [licks fingers and does flicking motion] dust, and just be doing that for a couple of minutes.

“You think that’s going to touch the sides? You think £1milllion is going to touch the sides with this guy? Come on man.

“But that’s all they can do, two weeks’ wages.”

Ronaldo is currently with his Portugal team-mates ahead of a friendly match against Nigeria on Thursday, November 17, before their World Cup Group H opener against Ghana in Qatar a week later.
