The monarch of Iwo in Osun State, his royal majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi (Telu1), the Oluwo of Iwo, has finally tied the knot with Kano Princess, Firdaus Abdullahi.

The monarch during the event unveiled the beautiful pictures of the new queen and captioned it, ‘Queen Firdaus of Iwoland’

Oluwo of Iwo, shortly before the wedding,  was alleged to have written a letter, soliciting money from the Osun State Government to fund his wedding to the beautiful Kano princess.

A statement from the palace later refuted the allegation that the king asked for the sum of N20m from the state government for his wedding.

“We read with total dismay a letter purportedly said to have emanated from the palace of Oluwo of Iwoland seeking financial assistance on his personal affairs, wedding.

“The letter was orchestrated by mischievous people whose mission is to discredit the palace. Marriage is a personal affair; there is no marriage venture too big for Oluwo to finance on his own. Those circulating such should exercise caution. The Queen is coming but not in the haste of the public demand.” the statement read in parts.

The Commissioner of Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, also corroborated the position of the monarch, saying the letter was written by mischief-makers.

The invitation to the ceremony released earlier indicated that the wedding ceremony between Oba Akanbi and  Princess Firdaus was scheduled to take place at the residence of the Madakin Kano, Yola Quarters, Kano.

Additional details also showed that after the wedding, a reception strictly for ladies would take place at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero.

Speaking after the wedding, the representative of the groom, said one of the ways to achieve a united Nigeria is to allow marriages across the divides. Adding that she is in safe hands.

“We had a warm reception here. I’m not new here because I was born in Kano. So I’m back home.

“So, Firdaus is given back to her father. I see myself as her father so she is in a safe hand. And in Islam, marriage is a trust which you must deliver,” he said.

Also speaking for the family of the bride, her brother, Farooq Abdullahi, described Firdaus as a woman with a good reputation and other sterling qualities, wishing her the best of luck in the marriage.

“We are very happy and proud of this marriage. You know in life you can’t predict where you are heading to, especially marriage.

“It can take you anywhere in the world. So we are all Nigerians and have to embrace each other and see ourselves as family. So we wish her all the best and the groom.”
