Youri Tielemans rejects new contract after Gunners’ interest

Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano said Youri Tielemans rejected an offer of a new contract at Leicester, but his manager, Rogers denied the assertion

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans scored from the penalty spot during their Premier League match against West Ham United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

But Fabrizio Romano has reported that he will not be extending his contract with Leicester City, after rejecting the clubs’ latest offer of a new deal.

The 24-year-old Belgian will be out of contract in 2023, and it’s now likely that Leicester will sell him in the summer, even though Rogers denied the news that he rejected a new contract after their game against West Ham.

The respected Italian journalist, Romano added that Tielemans will remain professional and focused on Leicester until the end of the season, even though top clubs are queuing for his signature.

According to Goal.com, Arsenal are interested in Youri Tielemans, and they’ve already held talks with his agent about a potential move.

The two parties met at London Colney to discuss the situation. Although the deal is expected to be finalised during the summer transfer because Leicester wants to keep him until the end of the season.

Arsenal is likely to reapproach Leicester in the summer knowing the Foxes will be desperate to cash in on one of their most prized assets. 

The midfielder is a reliable goal scorer, as he has scored 7 goals and provided assists 3 times in this campaign. He also had a 15 goal contribution last season.
