Gunmen on Saturday evening killed four more policemen at Amodo Obeagu in Enugu South Local Government Area.
The latest incident is less than 48 hours after gunmen killed three policemen in a checkpoint along Timber Road Independence Layout in Enugu.
The development has caused panic among residents of the state.
It was gathered the gunmen stormed a police checkpoint along Agbani Road, opened fire and killed four of them instantly.
Some of the surviving policemen sustained heavy bullet wounds during the attack that villagers said lasted for about five minutes.
Villagers further disclosed the hoodlums stormed the police checkpoint at Amodo in two Sienna cars and shot consistently for several minutes even after killing the policemen.
Last Thursday, gunmen killed three policemen at the Independence Layout and a popular leader of the Vigilante group known as Jango along Agbani Road.
It was reported that the hoodlums also attacked customs officers at Ozala near Four Corners Junction, Enugu on the same day.
The hoodlums, who killed the three policemen along Timber Road Independence Layout Enugu, were also said to have kidnapped a woman and her driver in the process.

Enugu Police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, did not pick calls to confirm the incident.
But a police source confirmed the incident.
Gunmen had also on Monday evening, February 7, killed three persons and injured many others in an attack at Nnobi in Idemili North Local Government Area.
The attack occurred around 8.45 pm.
In January, gunmen kidnapped former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawman Duruji.
They also seized the wife of Frank Onwumere, an erstwhile Chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.
While Onwumere’s wife was said to have been kidnapped on Sunday, a source said Duruji was abducted on Saturday while returning from a function.
Also kidnapped was a businessman in Owerri, popularly known as Ezzybee.
It was gathered that Ezzybee was abducted while going to watch a football match.
The gunmen were also said to have seized some unidentified persons at Okwelle junction in Onuimo Local Government Area, Amaraku in Isiala Mbano L.G.A, as well as Ubomiri in Mbaitoli council area of the state.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Michael Abattam, said the command was on the trail of the kidnappers.
He disclosed that the person who was kidnapped at Ubomiri had been rescued by the police.
Attacks on security infrastructure and personnel by gunmen which seemed to have ebbed in the South East is on the upsurge once again.
No one seems to know what the present trigger could be.
