Iheanacho’s Leicester beat Spartak in a seven-goal thriller

Leicester City defeated Spartak Moscow n a seven-goal thriller at the Otkrytie Bank Arena in Russia.    

The home side drew the first blood in the 11th minute when Aleksandr Sobolev scored from Zelimkhan Bakaev’s pass to open the home side’s account.

Jordan Larsson made it 2-0 to Spartak in the 44th minute after Nigeria’s Victor Moses gave him a very good pass.

Leicester reduced the deficit when another Nigerian, Kelechi Iheanacho, provided an assist for Zambia’s Patson Daka for the first of his 4 goals for Leicester on the night. 

The second half resumed with Leicester still in charge, and their dominance paid off when Iheahacho once again, combined with Daka to score his brace in the  48th minute to level score 2-2.

The away side went in front for the first time in the game six minutes later, when Patson Daka, who was having an unforgetful night scored his third goal to make it a hat-trick for himself and 3-2 to Leicester. 

The brilliant Zambian scored his fourth goal in the 79th minute when James Madisson gave him a delicious pass.

Spartak Moscow who were now desperate scored the third goal late in the 86 minutes, when Sobolev got his brace from another assist from Victor Moses, to end the game 4-3 in favor of the visitors.  

Despite the contributions of the two Nigerians Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Moses, who provided two assists each to cap a very productive night, it was their Zambian brother, Paston Daka, who stole the night after scoring four goals.
