Reacting to the news of his death, Okonkwo described Duru as a talent that will never be forgotten.
He also called the late actor a rare talent whose light shone brightly and whose humility spoke even louder than his craft.
While admitting that he was heartbroken to bid farewell to Duru, whom he called a dear younger colleague, he further eulogised him, saying he was exceptionally gifted, passionate about his craft, respectful, and remarkably humble.
According to him, despite Duru’s talent and the promise he carried, he never allowed his gifts to overshadow his humility or the respect he showed to others.
Taking to his verified handle, Okonkwo wrote:
”A painful loss, a talent that will never be forgotten. In an industry where talent is abundant but genuine humility is sometimes rare, you stood out in a special way.
”As a senior colleague, I watched and appreciated your talent with great admiration, and I always believed that you had so much more to offer this industry. Sleep well, young Ahanna. And may your memory be a blessing.”
