In less than a week, Abba Kyari has twice changed his claim about his relationship with Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi. He has also deleted two of those claims on his Facebook page.
Kyari is the suspended commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) who used his position to aid international fraudster, Hushpuppi, in a scheme to defraud a yet to be identified Qatari business person $1.1 million.
Kyari allegedly got N8 million for arresting and jailing Vincent Chibuzor, a disgruntled member of the syndicate who wanted to expose the fraud after he was sidelined.

Kyari had earlier denied collecting money from Hushpuppi, apart from acting as a middleman to procure native clothes for the self-confessed fraudster. He also called the FBI investigation a joke. He deleted the post the following day.
The Cable reported that on Tuesday evening, Kyari edited the part where he said Hushpuppi sent N300,000 for native clothes, adding a new claim that Hushpuppi contacted his office a second time to help recover N8 million.
“Nobody demanded or collected any money from Abbas Hushpuppi. He can be interviewed publicly in the presence of the world media by the people holding him to confirm this,” Kyari wrote in the new post.
“He also called for another case in June 2020 and complained about a financial transaction with a second person whom he said his friend sent N8 million naira to and pleaded for his friend’s money to be recovered. He sent transaction slips and other evidence to prove their case against the person.
“All these can be verified from the Hushpuppi since he is still in custody. And it can be verified from the person who collected 8 million naira from Hushpuppi’s friend whom they complained about is alive and is in Nigeria.”
Kyari later took down the post.
