The Federal Government on Friday directed the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN) and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, to step aside and recuse themselves from official duties, pending the outcome of the Special Visitation Panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The directive was contained in a statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Bem Goong.

The university has been embroiled in leadership crisis following the purported sack of the Vice Chancellor by the Babalakin-led Governing Council of the university on Wednesday last week following allegation of abuse of office and other offences.
