As the rate of “mysterious deaths” continues to spike in Kano in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Emir of Rano in Kano State, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila 11, died on Saturday.
He reportedly died at the Nassarwa Specialist Hospital at about 4:45 pm after a brief illness.
His Rano emirate is one of four new emirates created in Kano in the wake of the balkanisation of the Kano emirate.
He was reported to have been hospitalized on Friday.
Though details of his ailment were uncertain, many prominent Kano indigenes have died in the last one week, creating anxiety in the country.
The federal government has intervened but the situation is frightening.
Turakin Rano and House of Representatives member representing Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure, Alhaji Kabir Alhassan Rururm, confirmed the death of the emir.
Hon. Rururm said the late emir would be buried Saturday evening in the emirate.
The late emir is survived by 17 children and two wives.
