The Islamic Education Trust (IET) in Nigeria is currently sponsoring no fewer than 100 orphans in different schools under its Humanitarian Initiative Department in the country.
The Director General of IET Nigeria, Alhaji Arzika Abubakar Rimau, disclosed this to journalists, while heralding the group’s 50th anniversary which begins from Saturday, 21, 2019. He stated that areas of assistance include payment of medical bills, providing food-aid, among others.
He explained that from a humble beginning, IET has grown into an organization with staff strength of over 500 that made up of both Muslims and Christians.
Rimau stated that IET through its activities has impacted on every region in Nigeria, other countries in Africa and other continents; with both national and global recognition.
Activities lined up for the golden jubilee event are the New Horizon College, NHC, Alumni Marriage Workshop, and NHC Nursery and Primary School Alumni Get-Together, while the Interfaith Seminar, Neighbourhood Children Funfair, Inter School Quiz Competition.
Others include the IET Weekend School Alumni program which, he said has trained over 7,000 Muslim students in various subjects since its launch in 1984.
He further revealed that high point of the 50th anniversary would be the presentation of various awards to a total of 100 individuals cutting across both Muslims and Christians background for their contributions to human development in the nation, slated for Saturday, 18th Jan, 2020.
Dignitaries expected at the event are the Niger state Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello, his deputy, Alh. Ahmed Ketso, Speaker and members of the state Assembly, former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar.
Royal fathers of the day include the Sultan of Sokoto, Alh. Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, Emir of Kano, Alh. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Estu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, as well as former governors of Niger state and other friends of IET all over the country.
