President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday summoned the nation’s service chiefs and the Inspector- General of Police (IGP) to the presidential villa, Abuja. This was the third time the President would be meeting with the security chiefs.
On Monday, Buhari met with the security heads for a routine weekly briefing. On Tuesday, President met with the security chiefs along with the Minister of Defence, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), where he was advised to stop further implementation of the anti-open grazing law in Benue, Taraba and Ekiti states.
It was unclear why the President met with the service chiefs again yesterday. The service chiefs comprising the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Minister of Defence and the IGP, arrived at the presidential villa at about 3p.m and spent only ten minutes inside the president’s office before departing.
