Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum chapter, has suspended the industrial action it embarked upon since March 23, 2017 over non-payment of perculier Academic Allowance (PAA) among other demands.
The suspension of the strike was contained in a statement jointly signed by the COEASU Chairman, Muntari Sa’ad, and Secretary, Garba A. Musa, in Damaturu
The statement reads: “Sequel to an emergency COEASU Congress meeting held on Monday 24th April 2017: the Congress discussed extensively the contending issues that led to the industrial action with the National Officers Council (NOC) and agreed with the brokered resolutions: the College Management has agreed to pay two months arrears and payment will commence immediately and other subsequent payments of PAA shall continue as agreed earlier.
“That the National Officers Council (NOC) and the Chapter Executive Council should follow up all other issues which include: the Teaching practice payment of 6.5 percent arrears of February 2017 salary, implementation of of annual increments and promotion, pension contributory scheme (deduction and nominal roll) and group life insurance”.
The union hoped that the management would be up and doing in honoring the resolution for the progress of the college.
