Workers of Aba North Local
Government Area have joined thousands of other Abia State people to pray to God for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to triumph over the current political crisis in the state.
During a prayer session at the secretariat
in Aba, the council Chairman, Chief Samuel Atulaegwu
Nwogu, said that the purpose of the prayer by the council workers was to seek the face of God on Ikpeazu’s trial moment.
He also explained that the gathering was to demonstrate their collective
supports, love and solidarity to the governor whom he refers to as God
chosen.
According to him, the entire situation calls for calm, pointing out that Ikpeazu’s distraction will not prevent him from
performance and therefore sued for peace.
He said that Abians would not continue folding arms watching an individual or
group steal the mandate of the people through back door,
stressing that lovers of the state should
intensify prayers to avert the state from anarchy, hence the period
calls for sober reflection.
Also, the local government People Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Elder Israel Aguwa, and his predecessor, Ofia Ndukwe, said that they came
to cry unto God over the trial moment of Abia State.
According to them, the political situation in the state at the moment
demands serious prayers and attention of all PDP members to seek for God’s intervention.
They stated: “Let people leave Ikpeazu alone.
Abia had suffered enough, he should be allowed to complete his tenure and that is why we are here calling on God to wipe out our tears against the evil attacks and distraction on governor Ikpeazu.”
In his sermon, the minister incharge, Pastor Collins Ogbonna, in his prayer title, “Embargo of uplifted,” called on Christian
workers in the council to pray without season.
Ogbonna, who drew his preaching from the book of Philippians
chapter 2 verse 10 and Deuteronomy chapter 2 verse 24, reminded
Christians that God who brought governor Okezie Ikpeazu to Abia people will not put him into shame.
