The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has described APC as a gathering of progressive minds, adding that it’s not a Ghana-must-go party where dollars are being shared.
Odigie-Oyegun spoke Saturday at the party’s grand reception for its newly-registered members in Cross-River State.
Notable Cross Riverians received into the party’s fold include: former Senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, Senator Bassey Otu, Brig. Gen (rtd) Enang Ukagu, Barr. Fidelis Ugbo, Dr. Alex Egbona, Prince Jeddy Agba, among others.
Chief Odigie-Oyegun expressed joy over the large number of new members who graced the occasion, noting that it’s an indication that APC’s ideology is widely accepted by Cross Riverians.
Receiving the members, he urged them to be of good conduct, saying, “We are not the Ghana-must-go party, neither do we share dollars. Do we?
“We have started moving Nigeria to greatness; but we need men of goodwill and unquestionable character to help us clear this country of all its mess.
“Few years from now, we are going to have a progressive government in Cross River considering the high caliber of people who have moved into the party.”
Speaking, Senator Ndoma-Egba said democracy is about choices and alternatives; adding that APC remains the only viable alternative platform to Cross Riverians.
He said gone were the days when Cross River was referred to as a one-party state, saying that is no longer tenable because change has eventually come.
“Democracy is all about choices and alternatives. Today, we join the APC which is a viable alternative platform.
“The idea that Cross River is a one-party State is no longer tenable. Change has indeed come!” he added.
