With hundreds of thousands of workers employed by hotels and tourism sites across the Federation, the hospitality sector is one of the highest employers of labour in the country.
But now over 100,000 of these jobs may be hanging on a balance even as paycut may also be applied if only to keep those likely to survive the looming mass sack.
No thanks to worsening economic downturn, dollar exchange crisis, sharp rise in the cost of power generation and other gruelling challenges facing the economy.
Dropping this hint while briefing newsmen in Lagos, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Blueseasons Hotels & Suites Ltd Michael Anyanwu, called on the government to quickly fix power supply crisis in order to avert massive retrenchment.
