Effective next month, indigenes of Imo State may be subjected to a headcount to compile registers of all the genuine residents of their communities as the traditional rulers have vowed to deal with the menace of kidnapping in their areas once and for all.
Leading the initiative are the traditional rulers from Owerri, the state capital, under the auspices of Owerri Council of Traditional Rulers whose member was recently kidnapped by yet-to-be-established criminals.
The traditional rulers in Imo State are key stakeholders in crime control and prevention in the Rochas Okorocha-led state government who once told them that he would hold them accountable for criminal activities that take place in their domains.
TheNiche was told authoritatively during the week that the proposed census by the Owerri monarchs will help to expose idle hands in all the communities in their areas in particular and elsewhere in Imo State in general for the purpose of dealing a final blow to the activities of kidnappers who in recent times have surfaced in the state.
