From eight candidates, the choice has now been narrowed to three likely successors to the throne of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.
A report by the Daily Trust said the kingmakers of Zazzau emirate have also submitted the three names to Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai whose responsibly it is to appoint the next Emir.
According to the newspaper, the three men are; the Iyan Zazzau, Alhaji Bashir Aminu. He raked 89 points to qualify as the top choice of the kingmakers.

The second choice is Yariman Zazzau, Alhaji Munir Yusuf, who came very close with 87 points to make the second choice of the kingmakers.
The third choice for the kingmakers is Turakin Karamin Zazzau, Alhaji Aminu Shehu Idris, who got 53 points.
The Kaduna governor, El-rufai, who would choose one of the men as the next Emir of Zazzau, is not obligated to go for the man with the highest point.
Here is a brief profile of the contenders, according to the Daily Trust.
Bashir Aminu, Iyan Zazzau.
He was born in 1951 into the ruling house of Katsinawa. He has a bachelors in accounting from Ahmadu Bello University from 1975. He was district head of Sabon Gari from 1979 to 2018. He scored 89 marks.
Muhammed Munnir Jafaru, Yariman Zazzau.
He was born in 1956 into the ruling house of Barebari. He holds a masters in law from 1983. He was director-general of NMA (now NIMASA) from 1992 to 1996. He is presently district head of Basawa since 2018. He scored 87.
Aminu Shehu Idris, Turakin Karamin.
He was born in 1976 into the ruling house of Katsinawa. He holds a masters in international economics from Westminster University, London, from 2003. He is a supervisor for joint venture/third-party financing at NNPC. He scored 53.
