Turji is one of the most notorious bandits in the North, he recently turned down the community’s request for a visit to appease him
After a series of attacks in the Shinkafi area of Zamfara state, the people of the community have resolved to send fresh emissaries to appease the notorious bandit, Kachalka Turji.
There has been an upsurge in attacks in the area of the state, especially targeting travelers plying the road linking Gusau to Sabon Birni, in Sokoto State,
In early November, Turji had turned back a delegation from Shinkafi, who reportedly went to him to appeal for peace.
A resident of Shinkafi, Alhaji Ali Mamman, said there had been incessant attacks on the major road since the airstrike, which killed parents and other family members of Turji’s associate, Dan Bokkolo.

According to Daily Trust, the military has been bombarding bandits hideouts in the North West for a while now.
Another resident also said the attacks from the bandits have been going on for days, and that they sometimes carry out attacks, up to three times a day.
He said residents of the area, however, felt relieved after the deployment of more troops on Monday.
The delegation left Shinkafi Monday afternoon for the rendezvous. The outcome of their mission is, however, unknown as of the time of filing this report.
“Among the delegation are people from Halilu’s camp. It appears Halilu is now amenable to dialogue and seems to be working with some officials to bring around others to pipe down,” said a security source in Gusau.
