The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied suspending a section of its members in Zamfara State.
A faction of the party in the state alleged that another group has been suspended for anti party activities. A letter to that effect was also produced to prove the claim, which was widely shared on social media.
But on September 10, the national secretariat of the party said the suspension letter purportedly issued by the national body against the members was fake.
A statement signed by the party’s deputy national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, said the attention of the National Secretariat was drawn to the viral forged document circulating.
“The Party’s National Headquarters does not interfere in State affairs as it affects the exercise of the constitutional provisions in the running of the various state chapters.
“The document did not emanate from the Secretary, APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, as criminally ascribed by the forgers. The document should be disregarded.
“The mandate and focus of the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC Caretaker Committee is to bring all aggrieved party members to the table to achieve peace and reconciliation. The Party remains resolute in achieving this mandate,” the party said.
