Peter Obi formally joined the 2023 presidential election race in a manner that appears exciting to many young Nigerians.
A tweet from @Jack_ng01 describes the manner of Peter Obi’s declaration as the advent of modern politics in Nigeria.
He said Peter Obi, in declaring to contest for the PDP presidential ticket, did the following;
1). He consulted without the media
2). He did not rush to declare his intentions, he took his time
3). He attended his Boss’ declaration a day before his own
4). He went to his home state to declare (as it should be)
Other commenters on Twitter recalled how Peter Obi, as governor of Anambra State, ran the state so efficiently that he left for his successor, Willie Obiano, huge sums to enable him to have an easy sail.
@Sharonimouks said: “A father leaves an inheritance for his children and that’s what HE Peter Obi did. ‘I left $155B when I was leaving govt, ask Access bank.’ “What has Obiano left for them that he’s trying to elope? Choose integrity, competence, choose @PeterObi.”

For @firstladyship, the declaration by Peter Obi offers the youths the opportunity of owning the race. She said: “Peter Obi’s race is our own. We will queue, donate, mobilize grassroots, sponsor radio & TV jingles & spread the word on the streets. Peter is not the hero or the messiah. But with him, you & I will have that fighting chance. That’s a simple message. JOIN US IN THE MOVEMENT!!”
