French pundit and former striker Thierry Henry has told Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta that he will have to answer questions from the club’s board if he fails to win a trophy this season.

The Gunners legend issued the warning to the Spanish tactician recently while speaking on CBS Sports.

Arsenal are competing to win both the UEFA Champions League (UCL) and the English Premier League (EPL).

They currently sit at the top of the EPL table, three points ahead of closest rivals Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

The North London giants will also face La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in the UCL semi-final second-leg tie on Tuesday at the Emirates for a place in the final of the competition.

The last time Arsenal won a trophy was in 2020 during Arteta’s first season, when they defeated Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

While discussing the implications of missing out on all silverware this season, Henry said such a failure would come with consequences.

He further noted that after the amount of money spent by the club’s board and the number of years Arteta has been in charge, it is pertinent he wins something.

“The board is gonna have to decide what they are gonna do with Mikel Arteta. All I’m saying is that at one point, after all those years and the amount of money on the table to have two teams—we have all said Arsenal have the best squad this season,” Henry said.

“At one point, you’ll have to talk and answer some questions if you don’t win. It is just a normal thing after so long.

“While it’s all good and we are all supporting as Arsenal fans where we are going to be, but if it doesn’t happen, like I always said, you are going to have to answer some questions that the board is going to ask you.”
