Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal has spoken for the first time about missing out on the 2026 edition of the coveted Ballon d’Or.
Reacting to not winning the award in a post shared on his official Instagram page on Tuesday, 27 October, the Spain international sent a calm but confident message to supporters.
Yamal finished third behind England captain Harry Kane and France captain Kylian Mbappé during the event, which was hosted in London on Monday night.
However, while reacting to missing out on the award, the 19-year-old made it clear that the setback has not altered his belief in where his career is heading.

Taking to his verified handle, Yamal wrote: “It [Ballon d’Or] will come; good things take time. I trust the path I am building. My time will come.”
He went on to felicitate Bayern Munich striker Kane on his Ballon d’Or victory.
“Congratulations to the winners. My focus now returns to what really matters: helping Barcelona win again,” he added.
Yamal was a strong contender for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, having claimed the Kopa Trophy, won the 2026 World Cup, and secured last season’s La Liga title.
