Wizkid’s 14-year-old son Boluwatife Balogun goes viral with rap debut
By Habiba Kaita
Boluwatife Balogun, the first son of Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has caught social media’s attention with a short rap video he posted on Instagram on October 26, 2025.
The video of the 14 year old confidently delivering lyrics over an Afro-trap beat in what appeared to be a preview of his upcoming single, Champion Sound, sparked wide reactions online.
Fans praised Boluwatife’s vocal flow and confidence and some compared how his rhythm and tone resemble his father’s (Wizkid) early sound.
Nigerian rapper Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, better known as Olamide also reacted positively to the post, adding to the growing buzz around the young artist.
Although many fans were supportive and celebrated the teenager’s talent, others were worried about the challenges that come with following in his father’s footsteps such as high expectations from the public, as well as the pressure of entering the industry at such a young age, conversations about privilege/Nepotism were also being discussed.
Born in Lagos to Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (Wizkid) and Shola Ogudugu, Boluwatife seems ready to explore music in his own style and his viral teaser has left many fans curious to see what comes next from the budding rapper. So far, Wizkid has not publicly commented on his son’s rising interest in music or the viral success of his debut snippet.
