Asked if he rued leaving Chelsea for Arsenal He said: “Yeah I wish I’d never left. Of course, it’s easy now to say something but when you stop to think about all the situations I say to myself ‘I wish I never left’.

“But it’s life, I’m happy now at Fulham and I’m enjoying myself there.”

He, however, praised Arsenal for their exploits so far this season.

“They (Arsenal) are flying now. I think it was in the middle when things were changing a lot. I was excited when I signed with them, I was training hard but it just didn’t work and that’s it.” Willian further said.

The Brazilian left Stamford Bridge for the Emirates after seven trophy-laden years due to Chelsea’s decision to offer him a two-year contract.

Arsenal pounced on the contract situation between Willian and their London rivals by offering him a three year contract, thereby signing him on a free transfer.

On moving from the west of London to the north, Willian endured a miserable time with the Gunners, failing to thrive under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta.

However, the attacker has been in excellent form since his return to London to Fulham and will come face-to-face with Arsenal at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The Gunners will regain their 5 points lead over Manchester City who edge past Crystal Palace on Saturday if they defeat Fulham in the encounter.

The Cottagers, on the other hand, will inflict the fourth defeat of the season on Arsenal if they win, they will also leapfrog Brighton and Newcastle into the 6th position.
