The invitation from Wike to Wamakko and Sanwo-Olu to commission projects has left tongue wagging that Wike is on his way to the APC.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has welcomed the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, to Port Harcourt.

This is coming one day after the PDP governor hosted Babajide Sanwo-Olu, an APC governor. Sanwo-Olu commissioned the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines Junction) Flyover.

Wamakko, chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence, will commission the dualised Ogbumnu-Abali Road in Port Harcourt.

Wamakko is a political opponent of PDP chieftain and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tanbuwal.

The invitation from Wike to Wamakko and Sanwo-Olu to commission projects has left tongue wagging that Wike is on his way to the APC. Many, however, also think it may be his strategy to get the PDP to do his bidding.

Wike has not been in good terms with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar since the latter overlooked him for the vice-presidential slot.

Sanwo-Olu, Wike rap politics, projects during visit to Rivers

During the launch of the flyover on Monday, Wike said that anybody who despises the political capability of Rivers State will be treated alike.

He said: “If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you.

“Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.

“Politics now is no longer just voting for somebody, it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”
