Why I shunned retirement, launched my own ministry  – Bishop Abioye

By Ishaya Ibrahim

Bishop David Olatunji Abioye has explained why he is setting up his own ministry after leaving the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel.

This is coming just after retirement from office as Vice President of the Living Faith Church worldwide.

Bishop Adeoye is one of the two Vice Presidents of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, who were retired recently. The other one is Bishop Thomas Aremu.

The two clerics left the church headed by the founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, last month. While Aremu, who headed the church at Basorun in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, departed on October 15, Abioye, who had been with Bishop Oyedepo since 1979, took his exit on October 18.

The valedictory service for Aremu took place at the church in Ibadan, while that of Abioye held in the Durumi area of Abuja.

The clerics were said to have left Winners Chapel based on the rules of the mandate, which is the constitution or operational manual of the Church.

The revised mandate puts the new age of retirement, which was formerly 60, at 58. Only Oyedepo will have the privilege of a lifetime of service, after which every future leader will serve for one term or maximum of two terms of seven years each, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.

But rather than going into retirement, Bishop Abioye has unveiled plans for a new spiritual platform called the Hour of Revival.

The maiden edition of the Hour of Revival took place on Saturday at the Velodrome of the National Stadium in Abuja, drawing a large crowd of participants from diverse backgrounds.

Addressing the attendees, Bishop Abioye emphasized that the initiative was a divine directive.

Bishop Abioye further clarified that the revival platform is not his personal project but an ordained mission by God.

He called on participants to embrace personal revival as a pathway to corporate revival, expressing his hope that everyone in attendance would be transformed into fire-catchers and fire-spreaders.

The Hour of Revival, which is open to both saved and unsaved individuals, serves as an interdenominational prayer platform to rekindle spiritual fire and inspire personal and collective renewal.
