Why Air Peace aborted Lagos-bound flight

By Jeffrey Agbo

Air Peace announced on Thursday that its Abuja-to-Lagos flight made an emergency return due to a bird strike.

A bird strike occurs when an airborne animal, usually a bird, collides with a moving vehicle or aircraft during take-off, flight, or landing. These incidents can cause significant aircraft damage and create safety risks.

In a statement, Air Peace’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, said a replacement aircraft was deployed to minimise disruption for passengers.

The statement read: “We wish to inform our esteemed passengers that our Abuja-Lagos 06:30 flight experienced a bird strike before take-off, prompting a return to the ramp as a safety measure. All passengers disembarked normally.

“We have deployed a replacement aircraft for the affected flight to ensure passengers continue their journeys promptly. We appeal for the understanding of our valued passengers impacted by this development, as well as those on other flights that may experience delays.”

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to safe, comfortable and reliable air travel for all passengers.
