VeryDarkMan: Zion, Orokpo, Nwoke, others defend Apostle Arome over ‘Nigeria’s calling is revival’ comment

Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has come under fire over the manner in which he countered Apostle Arome Osayi’s claim that Nigeria’s calling is revival.
Arome, founder of Remnant Christian Network (RCN), caused a stir after he claimed that Nigeria’s calling is revival, contrasting the country’s spiritual purpose with China’s technological achievements.
In a response to Arome, VDM mocked the apostle’s facial palsy while arguing that technologies such as telephones, the internet and vehicles, as well as advances in medicine, were products of focused leadership and innovation rather than prayer and ministry.
Bishop Ibro Zion, General Overseer of Mountain of Praise Church International, accused VDM of disrespect and a lack of empathy.
He said: “VDM, you have taken this charade too far! First, you showed a lack of empathy and respect for my brother, Apostle Arome Osayi. You insulted a great apostle of our time whom God is using in many capacities to shape lives and instruct nations.
“To go on a video and mock my brother about his facial appearance or his postulation that Nigeria is a gift from God for end-time revival is totally out of place and disrespectful.”
Also, Apostle Michael Orokpo of Encounter Jesus Ministry International said VDM lacked the moral standing to lecture Nigerians.
He said: “God positioned him (VDM) with that influence so that he can become a voice for the helpless in society, and God is growing him gradually. He now thinks he is so wise that he is discrediting kingdom wisdom.
“The person who wants to tell Nigerians how to live does not have ethical value. You are making a mockery of someone’s physical issues.”
Similarly, Pastor Christian Nwoke, President of God’s Army Global (GAG), issued a stern spiritual warning to VDM, telling him that his “fall will be televised soon.”
However, Apostle Femi Lazarus, Lead Pastor of Light Nation Church, defended Arome while focusing on VDM’s mockery of the apostle rather than the theological debate over Nigeria’s calling.
He said: “We will not always agree. Preachers will not always be right. Context matters, and we must learn to extend grace always. Apostle Arome is ours—a gift to the body. That attack on him and mockery is unacceptable.
“We can disagree while maintaining ethical boundaries. Unfortunately, this is what we get when we in the body ourselves tear each other down. Apostle Arome is a gift; we can disagree honourably.”
