Activist and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has slammed President Bola Tinubu over soaring fuel prices, insisting his administration is worse than that of his predecessor.
He berated the incumbent president on Tuesday in a video trending across various social media platforms.
Since the escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran, the prices of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, have skyrocketed.
Reacting after petrol prices surpassed ₦1,000 per litre, VeryDarkMan argued that conditions were significantly better under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said: ‘The fuel price has hit over 1,000 naira per litre. They lied, they stole, and they want to continue stealing. President Tinubu is a failure. Things were much better at the point you took over from than they are now.’
Referring to his predictions from early 2023, the social commentator added: “Now imagine a place where Bola Ahmed Tinubu picks everybody from… imagine where we dey today. I said it then that this subsidy thing, they were actually looking for the best means to steal. It was even better when they were paying for the subsidy; at least there was a budget of money meant for the benefit of Nigerians.”
VeryDarkMan also highlighted issues within the education and health sectors, criticising the Tinubu-led government’s handling of both.
“Till tomorrow we still dey cry say our public schools are failing the children; dey give scholarship in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s regime, plenty of them dey for Morocco stranded dey cry.
“Education sector don fall, everything they collected money for e don fall. So where is the money for the subsidy that they removed? This is the most corrupt government in the history of Nigerian govt.”
He noted that hospitals are in a poor state, with doctors going on strike to demand a better working environment and higher pay.
VeryDarkMan went on to say Nigerians will eventually realise the extent of the country’s problems if the internet is shut down.
“Everything I said has come to pass. When people doubt me, look at it now. Na the same go shut down internet; na that time Nigerians go know say problem dey o wey you no dey see,” he concluded.
