Uzodimma suspends Imo State Housing Corporation MD

Barely one year after his appointment, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Wednesday approved the suspension of the Managing Director of Imo State Housing Corporation (IMSHC), Barr. Raymond Ucheoma.

Ucheoma’s suspension, effective June 2, 2026, which a senior government official who spoke to TheNiche on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the matter described as a sack, was communicated to him through a letter from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government which said the suspension was immediate.

Ucheoma, the letter indicated, was directed to hand over all government property in his custody to the Secretary of the Corporation or the most senior officer in the IMSHC before the close of work on “Tuesday, June 2, 2026.”

The appointment of Ucheoma, a lawyer and immediate past Head of Service of Imo State as Managing Director of IMSHC was approved in May 2025 in a letter also from the Office of the Secretary to the Imo State Government Imo, Chief Cosmas Iwu.

The letter of appointment to him then read in part: “His Excellency has enjoined the new Managing Director to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the performance of his new job.

“He looks forward to a new Imo State Housing Corporation, whose philosophy and service delivery will align with the 3R prosperity agenda of the present administration.”

No reason was given for the suspension.

Uzodimma appointed Barr. Ucheoma as the Head of Service in 2022.

He replaced Dr. Camelius Chibuzor Iwuagwu who was his predecessor.
