Former Lagos State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has warned that the use of police against opposition potent a great danger to the country and is capable of leading to its break-up.

He also warned that no one knows who will escape if the bubble eventually bursts as a result of the intolerance of the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) and the use for which they are putting the police.
Tsav, who was reacting to the chaos at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, blamed the PDP for what he described as a show of shame.
There was a crisis at the House of Representatives over an attempt to impeach the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, by the PDP legislators and denial of entry to the legislators of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) by the police.
He warned the Inspector General of Police, Sulaiman Abba, and his men to tread softly because no condition is permanent just as he called for the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“The use of the police against the opposition will definitely break up Nigeria and usher in anarchy. No one knows who will escape. The show of shame exhibited at the National Assembly today is not only disgraceful and shameful but shows immaturity and intolerance by the PDP government of Nigeria” he said.
The former police boss noted that the speaker despite his defection from PDP to APC was still a principal officer of the House as such no one has the right to stop him from performing his constitutional duty since he has not been impeached by his colleagues.
He lambasted the Nigeria police for their action saying they are being used as thugs to rubbish a national institution such as the NASS.
“By law Aminu Tambuwal is still the speaker of the House of Representatives. He only defected to APC but has not been removed by the House. No one therefore has the right to stop him from entering and presiding over proceeding in the House. The Nigeria police are being used as thugs to breach the laws of Nigeria. It is an act of gangsterism and disrespect to national institution to teargas members of the National Assembly. It is beastly and a compound shame indeed.
“The Nigeria Police are zombies—–immature, primitive and partisan. A few years ago, the police cautioned HRM, the Emir of Kano for advising our people to be ready to protect themselves against Boko Haram. The same police kept quiet when Governor Shema of Katsina State publicly re-enacted the laws of ‘tit-for-tat’ Hamurahy Laws. If the police cannot protect us, it is reasonable and expedient that we should protect ourselves” he said.
Tsav wondered why the police laws should be applied in opposition’s cases, stressing that Jonathan was endangering the polity.
“The time to impeach Jonathan is now in order to save our democracy. Delay may be disastrous. Are police laws only binding on the opposition? Shameful and ungodly people. Sulaiman Abba and his officers must remember that no condition is permanent. They should tread softly. Softly”, he advised.
