US-based Nigerian, Justice Amaechi, declares interest in Imo Assembly

A United States-based Nigerian, Justice Amaechi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Ezinihitte Mbaise Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly during the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi made the declaration in a statement addressed to the people of Eziudo and the wider Ezinihitte Local Government Area, where he expressed concern over what he described as the poor state of infrastructure and social services in the constituency.

According to him, “It is with profound humility and a deeply felt sense of duty that I formally declare my intention to contest the 2027 general elections for the Ezinihitte Mbaise Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly.”

He said his decision followed “careful reflection upon the prevailing conditions within our constituency, conditions that fall far short of what our people deserve.”

Highlighting the challenges facing the area, Amaechi noted that “Our road networks have become virtually impassable, school buildings stand in disrepair, health facilities remain woefully under-resourced, and access to basic amenities continues to elude far too many citizens.”

He added, “These are not merely administrative shortcomings; they are an affront to the dignity of our communities.”

The aspirant stressed that while individuals have tried to make contributions to community development, sustainable progress can only be achieved through legislative action and effective governance.

“Whilst many of us have endeavoured to contribute individually, such efforts remain limited in scope and lasting impact. True transformation demands intervention at the legislative level, through policy, accountability, and the purposeful channelling of public resources towards the needs of our people,” he stated.

Amaechi further pledged to push for improved infrastructure, healthcare, and education if elected into office.

“It is therefore my firm resolve to carry this cause into the halls of government, advocating with vigour for the infrastructural development, improved healthcare, and quality education that Ezinihitte Mbaise so urgently requires,” he said.

Quoting British statesman Edmund Burke, Amaechi stated, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

“I choose, therefore, to act, and I present myself humbly before you in that service,” he added.

He also assured constituents of his readiness to serve with integrity, saying, “I bring to this endeavour the experience, judgement, and steadfast commitment required to serve with integrity and purpose. I respectfully ask for your confidence, your mandate, and your blessing.”
