Unshaken, unbent unbroken: DefenceHQ posts on X handle hours after heated exchange between Wike, Naval officer
By Ishaya Ibrahim
A post on the X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Defence Headquarters appears to celebrate the action of one of their officers who stood his ground and resisted the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during an altercation over the status of an Abuja property.
Wike had arrived at the Abuja property owned by a Vice Admiral with a demolition squad, but was prevented from doing so by a young Naval officer stationed to protect the place.
Wike’s attempt to assert his authority failed to convince the officer. In frustration, he called the officer “a fool, get out, small boy.”

The officer, however, remained calm, rejected the insults, and reminded Wike that he was a commissioned regular officer who could not be intimidated.
Wike later placed a call to the Chief of Defence Staff. Following the conversation, the Minister departed the scene, failing to achieve his initial objective despite his grandstanding.
In a post on its X handle on Wednesday, the Defence Headquarters posted: “It’s an honour to serve in the Nigerian military. Unshaken. Unbent. Unbroken.”
