The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said Friday in a statement that the State Command has launched a manhunt for the alleged culprit.

As the industrial dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) lingers, its fallouts continue to assume ominous dimensions with parents bearing the brunt.
On Friday, police in Ananmbra disclosed that an undergraduate of a university in the State whose name is yet to be made public has allegedly killed his father and mother.
Although details of the matter were still scanty as at the time the story was filed but the tragic incident was said to have happened in the industrial town of Nnewi.
The already decomposing bodies of the unfortunate parents were said to have been discovered by neighbours who started perceiving an offensive smell.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said Friday in a statement that the State Command has launched a manhunt for the alleged culprit.
While not going into the details of the matter, DSP Ikenga said: “The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, while describing the discovery of the already decomposing dead bodies in an apartment in Nnewi on 22/9/2022 at about 5:20pm with machete cuts, as act of man’s inhumanity to man.
“He has ordered immediate manhunt of the suspect. He further directs immediate transfer of the case to State Criminal investigation department for discreet investigation.”
Meanwhile, the decomposing bodies have been recovered and deposited to the morgue.
The motive for the crime still remains a mystery.
But police said investigation has started in earnest.
Anambra has been beset with lot of tragic incidents in recent months.
Recently the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Uba was viciously attacked with many of his personal aides and security details killed in an apparent assassination bid.
