Umeh shocked over Akunyili’s demise

APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, has said that the death of Prof. Dora Akinyili at this time of the nation’s political history, is a great loss to the Igbo Nation and Nigeria as a whole.

In a Press Statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Stan Okeke, Chief Umeh stated that it was unfortunate that at a time Nigerians were full of prayers for her and expected her to return to Nigeria alive, “we just received this very shocking and destabilizing news of her death. Am here in the village for the burial of a close relation. My media assistant just whispered into my ears that his colleagues called him to break the news to him and that our former governor, Peter Obi has already announced it”.

Umeh said that this was too heavy for the people of Anambra State to bear, considering her enormous contributions to their safety and that of other Nigerians when she was in NAFDAC. He pointed out that she was also a woman of great courage and a role model for most ladies who wished to be a success in life.

 

The APGA National Chairman called on members of her family, particularly her husband, Dr. Chile Akunyili, to bear her demise with courage and fortitude, pointing out that God called her at a time He needed her and never wanted her to continue suffering from her ailment.

“Dora will surely be missed by all, may her great soul rest in The Lord”, Chief Umeh concluded.
