Ex-Nigerian international, Ifeanyi Udeze has told the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that the new head coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George may not perform well if the football governing body imposes ambitious assistants on him.

He made this known recently while featuring on popular sports radio station, Brila FM.

Finidi, who was recently appointed by the NFF, is currently shopping for his assistants, with former internationals, Emmanuel Amuneke and Daniel Amokachi reportedly in contention for the position.

However, there are innuendos that Finidi does not want Amokachi and Amuneke, who also applied for the Super Eagles head coach job as his assistants.

Speaking on the development, Udeze, a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, said imposing assistants on Finidi will be counter-productive.

He went on to say the new head coach should be giving a free hand to pick those who will assist him to succeed.

He said: “I don’t want to see an ex-player who will come and give Finidi problems.

“The NFF must not give him assistants who will try to take the job from him.

“He should instead be given a free hand to bring his assistants.”
