Pundit and former Liverpool winger, Steve McManaman has criticised the tactics employed by Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick during his team’s 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) game played on Wednesday night.

He made his feelings known while analysing the intriguing encounter on TNT Sports.

PSG went into the game without several key players, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Marquinhos and Ousmane Dembele.

Despite this, they won the match after a goal from Senny Mayulu and Goncalo Ramos’ decisive strike cancelled out Ferran Torres’s opener.

Speaking after the match, McManaman blamed Flick’s incredibly high line late on in the game for Barcelona’s home loss to PSG.

He added that the La Liga giants’ defeat was ‘self-inflicted’.

He further warned that the Catalan could be far from winning the competition with such football style.

McManaman said, “It’s self-inflicted from Barcelona.

“Why on earth in the last minute of normal time are you playing that high on the halfway line? It baffles me.

“If they don’t sort this out they won’t win this competition because you cannot play like this. It’s an awful goal to concede at any level.

“It’s so late on in the game and they’re taking those chances. Look how high they are, look at the disorganisation.”

Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League in the semi-finals last season after losing to Serie A club, Inter Milan.
