Uba Sani: Why Kaduna has been free from ethno-religious crisis, farmer/herder clashes

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said no ethno-religious crisis in the state since he took over from former governor Nasir El-Rufai two years ago.

Uba Sani made this statement in an interview with Arise TV on Thursday.

He said, “Today, in the last two years, we have not experienced one single ethno-religious crisis in Kaduna State. Today in Kaduna, in the last two years, we have not had a single herder-farmer crisis.

“Three weeks ago, I was going to Kauru local government area to attend a function, we stopped over at a particular village in Kauru local government, that’s the epicentre of religious crisis. But I was happy when I saw Fulani herders as well as farmers living together in the same community with the farm and cows, less than 50 metres away.”

Uba Sani attributed the peace in Kaduna under his watch to his governance style focused on inclusivity, fairness and justice.

“I solve the problem because what you need to do is inclusivity, you need to include everyone. President Tinubu didn’t need to come to the North to tell you how to run your own state.

“We have diversity in Kaduna, we have Muslims, Christians and about 60 ethnic groups in Kaduna State. As a leader, the first thing we need to do is to ensure justice. It is about equity, it is about fairness. And when we are talking about justice, equity and fairness, taking development to every part of the state, irrespective of religious, political or ethnic affiliation,” he added.

Uba Sani, who succeeded Mr El-Rufai, assumed office on May 29, 2023. He also said also he maintained peace in the state without paying bandits.
