An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate court has granted bail to two women who allegedly broke into a neighbour’s house and stole a bag full of clothes and underwear.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, gave the two women bail in the sum of 50,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The police arraigned the women, Morenikeji Fasayo, a 22-year old and Kemi Oyewole, a 21 year-old before the Chief magistrate court, Ado Ekiti, for allegedly stealing and causing a breach of peace.
Inspector Caleb Leramo, the prosecutor said the defendants committed the offence at about 8:00 pm at No. 24 Afatilo Street, off Oke-Ila in Ado-Ekiti on July 24.
The prosecutor also alleged that the victims of the break-in and stealing were James Stella and Mary Adako.
According to the prosecutor, the two women stole a bag containing clothes and underwear, which he claimed was worth at N25,000.
The prosecutor alleged that the actions of the two women could cause a breach of peace because they poured water in the room of the complainants, and later locked the room and went away with the key.
The prosecutor said the women were in violation of sections 412, 390(D), 249 and 249(D) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The two women said they were however not guilty of the offence.
Their lawyer, Omowumi Olowolafe, later asked for bail, which the Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, granted.
He then adjourned the case till Aug. 3, for hearing.
