If you have recently updated your Twitter app, you may notice that at the end of every tweet you can see what device you just tweeted from – either from the web, iPhone, Android or a third-party app.
Apart from reigniting rivalry between two of the world’s most used Operating System, iOS and Android, and in this case Apple and Samsung, Android users are feeling demeaned with the latest update.
The feature was quietly enabled on Twitter’s mobile clients earlier this month. It has long been part of the TweetDeck app. It has received a mixed response from users since Twitter’s CEO, Jack Dorsey, highlighted it.
Tweets show that most people who use Android phones feel embarrassed when it shows they’re tweeting from a device that’s not iPhone.
Some are happy to have additional details to dig into for context, for example, whether a person is on mobile or using third-party apps, but others believe it is an unnecessary addition that is stoking the rivalry between iOS and Android users and leaving them to feel a little on the low.
A number of Android users lamented that the new detail is ‘exposing’ their devices.
These tweets show what everyone feels.
