By Julius Alabi, Akure
The chairman Ondo State Independent Electoral commission (ODIEC), Dr Joseph Aremo, has lamented that the turnout of voters was not encouraging despite all efforts towards sensitizing the electorate for the election
According to him, the commission was proactive and did everything possible to encourage voters with the early deployment of both sensitive and non sensitive materials.
Aremo made his known today while monitoring the ongoing local government poll in Akure South, Akure North, and Ifedore local government areas of Ondo State
He said that though voters came out, the turnout was not encouraging. He, however, urged political parties to intensify efforts towards sensitizing the electorate to come out for voting on election days.
“The commission is also doing everything possible to ensure that no stone is left unturned for the local government election to be free , fair and credible,” he noted
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, who monitored the exercise in Akure metropolis, commended the people of the state for their peaceful conduct.
