Tompolo denies issuing ultimatum to FG over Nnamdi Kanu’s detention

Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has dismissed reports linking him to a 21-day ultimatum allegedly issued to the Federal Government over the continued detention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement released by his Media Consultant, Dr Paul Bebenimibo, and made available to journalists in Warri on Sunday, Tompolo described the report as false and the handiwork of those determined to tarnish his image.

The statement said, “High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. It is clearly the handwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are out there to discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.”

The statement further noted that those spreading the falsehood would not succeed, adding that Tompolo remained focused on his mandate to curb oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the region.

“We wish to state unequivocally and unambiguously that Tompolo did not author the said publication. High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu.

“It is clearly the handiwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are out there to discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.

“This set of people has failed and will continue to fail because he will not relent in carrying out his duty to totally eradicate illegal oil activities in the region,” the statement continued.

Reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the statement said Tompolo remained committed to supporting the government’s policies and developmental agenda.

“We wish to reassure the Federal Government, led by our dynamic President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Tompolo is with him and will continue to support the renewed agenda of his government.

“We wish to add that Tompolo remains firm and reaffirms his endorsement of Mr President for a second term and continues to work for its realisation. Once again, the Federal Government and the general public should ignore the said publication,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu’s trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to resume on Monday, October 27, where he will open his defence in the terrorism case filed against him by the Federal Government.
