Tiwa Savage apart from playing the role of the lead character in the movie which stemmed from her 2021 EP, will also co-direct the film

Ace Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage has decided to venture into the movie industry after so many productive years in the music industry.
Tiwa made this known on Wednesday, when she took to social media to announce that she would make her debut in her first-ever movie.
According to the 43-year-old mother of one, she played the lead role in a movie titled ‘Water and Garri’ and also co-directed the new film.
Sharing a post on Instagram of a picture of her on set and with directors, she wrote, “This is about to be an ICONIC moment. My first calling and co-directing debut with the GOAT @meji Alabi.”
In the movie, while in the city of Cape Coast in Ghana, Tiwa plays the role of a fashion designer with a budding career in the U.S. who returns to her home in Africa to confront the guilt she left behind.
Also featured in the movie are popular Nigerian thespians Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting and Jemima Osunde.

According to Screen Daily, the movie stems from the music star’s 2021 EP of the same title.
The international film news site also reported that the award-winning Nigerian singer has rounded off the shooting of the film in Ghana.
Tiwa who wrote and performed the film’s original soundtrack, while commenting on the completion of the project said: “This project was a complete labour of love that has been a dream of mine for several years.
“Performing as Aisha allowed me to be vulnerable and pushed me to express myself in a way never done before. It was an honour to share my debut as an actress with Meji whilst filming on the African continent with a cast and crew that I greatly respect. I’m excited for the world to see this film.”
Although the singer has disclosed that the movie production has been completed, she is yet to announce a date for the movie release.
