Tinubu’s former supporter Ayodele says his regime won’t know peace unless he reduces high food inflation

INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church leader, Elijah Ayodele – who supported Bola Tinubu during the 2023 campaign but has since turned into one of his fiercest critics from the pulpit – has told the President to stop his extravagant lifestyle in Aso Rock and instead face his real job of solving Nigeria’s problems, especially poverty.

In other words, Tinubu’s intentionally bad regime cannot be covered up by him using security agents to harass citizens, civil society groups, and threaten people with treason charges for protesting against hunger.

“Tinubu is further destroying Nigeria’s economy instead of looking for ways to repair it. The unnecessary lavish spending isn’t helping the country,” Ayodele noted in a statement issued on Sunday through his Media Aide Osho Oluwatosin

“Sometimes I wonder if these government officials don’t know what is going on because if they do, the government shouldn’t be buying some things at this trying time.

“I still don’t see our economy smiling in 2025, the government should cut cost, the government is killing the economy with all these unnecessary expenditure, Nigeria is in real trouble but the government is acting like it doesn’t care.’’

Afenifere lists some of Tinubu’s wasteful spendings

Afenifere, the Yoruba social cultural group in Tinubu’s South West base, had also lamented two weeks ago that Nigerians are worse off under his wasteful spending.

“Afenifere noted that the Nigerian people are sorely troubled by the pervasive hardship, crippling hunger, unremitting insecurity in the land, runaway inflation, massive unemployment, etc. all of which have left the people worse off than they were at the beginning,” the group said in a communique issued after its quarterly meeting.

“Afenifere also observed the reckless, obstinate and indifferent attitude of the government to the long-term effects of the lack of forethought or purpose regarding the handling of the public revenue.

“Afenifere rued some of the Tinubu administration’s profligate predilection or inclination to waste resources, viz.

“(a) $100 million or N240 billion as purchase price for an Airbus A330 as jet for the President and a further $50 million to retrofit it.

“(b) N950 million each as purchase price of a new set of armoured Cadillac Escalade Limousine SUVs as befitting vehicles for the President.

“(c) N21 billion for renovating a new mansion for the Vice President.

“(d) N90 billion as subsidy for religious pilgrimage.

“(e) N10 billion to renovate the Presidential Lodge at Ribadu Road, Lagos, etc.”

Tinubu can’t know peace unless he brings down food prices, Ayodele warns

Before Ayodele’s latest outburst at Tinubu’s insensitive leadership, he had on September 3 warned him in a statement to provide a lasting solution to the unbearably high prices of food items if he wants peace in his government.

Said he: “This government doesn’t know what to do regarding the price of food items, they are confused already. They have sabotaged it already against the government and they will turn it into propaganda. Forces will use it to fight the government.

“I see no way of having peace in Tinubu’s government if the price of food commodities continues to skyrocket, there can never be peace because there will be hardship.

“The government’s approach to create short-term solutions will not work, it will lead to more hardship. People are only being deceived that the prices of commodities have reduced, it’s a lie.’

“Churches and individuals have been trying their best to help the situation and I commend everyone that has participated so far but none can ever replace the government. The government has a lot to do to make it more effective.”
