Tinubu’s ex-campaign coordinator quits APC

The former Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign Council in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has withdrawn his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Marafa confirmed his resignation to Channels Television through a text message on Sunday, following a two-day consultation with his political allies last week.
In a communiqué released after the meeting, the group declared its collective exit from the APC, citing alleged injustice, neglect, and the worsening security crisis in Zamfara.
They expressed deep concern over the escalating violence, pointing to data ranking Zamfara as the state with the highest incidents of kidnapping nationwide.
The forum also accused the Federal Government of manipulating security forces during the recent Kaura Namoda bye-election, claiming troops were deployed to guarantee the APC’s victory rather than safeguard residents.
“The entire structure with all its supporters hereby formally resigns from the All Progressives Congress in protest against the sustained injustice, mistrust, marginalisation, and deliberate neglect of Zamfara State and its people. We shall, in due course, announce our next political direction, guided by the collective interest of the good people of Zamfara State,” the communiqué stated.
Marafa’s supporters further criticised what they described as the exclusion of Zamfara in federal appointments despite the state’s significant role in delivering votes for the APC in 2023. They noted that while other North-West states secured multiple ministerial portfolios, Zamfara was allotted only one, with communities devastated by banditry receiving little or no federal relief.
The statement, jointly signed by Comrade Bashir Muhammad Mafara (Chairman) and Dr. Mannir Bature Tsafe (Secretary), added that the group would soon unveil its next political move in alignment with the aspirations of Zamfara citizens.
