Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu has advised the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, not to accept a joint presidential ticket with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Atiku Abubakar in 2027.

He gave the warning on Thursday while featuring on Arise Television’s Prime Time.

The presidential aide argued that the ex-governor will not get the kind of “blind followership’ he got in 2023 if he runs with the former vice president in 2027.

He went on to say despite the permutations of the opposition, Tinubu will remain in power in 2027, adding that his principal’s achievements will speak for him when seeking a second term in office.

Speaking during the interview, Onanuga said: “If Peter Obi allies with Atiku in 2027, he will not get the blind followership he received in 2023; it will not happen because he wants to be president and they want him to be Vice President.

“That is why when I look at it, they are just trying their luck, trying all kinds of permutations but the APC will still be in power in 2027.

“President Tinubu’s achievements in office will speak for him.”

Obi, Atiku, and some prominent Nigerian politicians recently formed a coalition which adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their party.

They are expected to use the platform to wrestle power from President Tinubu and the ruling APC in the next presidential election.

Obi has, however,  made it clear that he intends to run for the presidential position in 2027.
