Tinubu visits Oba of Lagos

President Bola Tinubu on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at the historic Iga Idunganran Palace.
Sharing details of the visit on his official X account on Saturday, Tinubu praised the contributions of traditional rulers to the nation, emphasising their critical role in governance and development.
“Today, I had the honour of visiting His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, at the historic Iga Idunganran Palace, a site rich in culture and tradition,” Tinubu wrote.

The president revealed that his discussions with the Oba focused on Nigeria’s current challenges and the importance of traditional values in shaping a cohesive and prosperous society.
He highlighted the need for strengthened partnerships between traditional rulers and government institutions to address pressing national issues effectively.
“During my visit, Kabiyesi and I engaged in meaningful conversations about the role traditional institutions play in shaping our society and how they can improve on their role as partners in governance and development,” Tinubu added.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, the president noted the vital contributions of cultural heritage and traditional leadership in achieving sustainable progress for all citizens.
