President Bola Tinubu has directed his Vice President, Kashim Shettima to travel to London and accompany the remains of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
This was disclosed on Sunday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on his X handle.
In the statement, the President also officially announced the passing of his predecessor, Buhari.
According to Onanuga, Buhari died in London on Sunday at about 4.30 pm, following a prolonged illness.

He went on to say Tinubu has spoken with Mrs Aishat Buhari, the former President’s widow and offered his deep condolences.
He added that Buhari’s successor further ordered flags at half-staff as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
Buhari was twice elected Nigeria’s President in 2015 and 2023 on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also served as military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
