President Bola Tinubu has nominated 39-year-old Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new chairman/chief executive officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
This was disclosed on Thursday in a statement issued by the president’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga
According to him, Ramat is an electrical engineer and administrator, who holds a PhD in strategic management.
Onanuga added that President Tinubu also appointed two individuals to serve as commissioners on the NERC board.
They are Mr Abubakar Yusuf, Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, and Dr Fouad Olayinka Animashun, Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.
The presidency noted that all nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
“However, to avoid a leadership vacuum in the critical regulatory agency, the President directed that Engr. Ramat assume office in an acting capacity pending his screening by the Senate, as stipulated by the law.
“President Tinubu urged the new appointees to use their knowledge and experience to discharge their functions and work assiduously to advance the administration’s power sector vision,” the statement reads.
